Who's behind this
RakeScan is built by BookToCash — a used-book company in Texas that has been buying books from people since 2019. 100,000+ books so far, bought with our own money, inspected in our own warehouse, sold on our own accounts.
That matters for one reason: when RakeScan says REJECT and shows you a cash offer, we're usually the buyer on the other end. A wrong verdict doesn't cost you an argument — it costs us real money. That's the incentive behind every number the app shows.
Why we made a scouting app
We've spent years on the buying side of this trade, watching scouts work with tools that hand them one opaque number and a shrug on every "no". We wanted the app we'd use ourselves: the full offer ladder instead of a single score, a why behind every verdict, and a reject pile that pays instead of going back on the shelf.
What we are — and aren't
- We are an operating bookseller: the same team that prices, packs and pays for books at booktocash.com.
- We aren't a data reseller or an ad company. No advertising SDKs, no selling your scan history — the privacy policy is short on purpose.
- The beta is invite-only because a human sends the invites and a human answers support. Small batches keep it that way.
The numbers we quote
Every figure on this site is either measured on the shipping build (like the 1.3-second median verdict) or comes from our own books (like 100,000+ bought since 2019). If we can't measure it, we don't put it in a headline.
